Journal: Reviews of Geophysics Submission date: March 2021 ------------------------------------------------------- Data About: this readme.txt contains a brief description of the files produced during the analysis of gridded datasets and that are made available to the readers URL: http://wilma.to.isac.cnr.it/arnone/Pepin2021RG/ Contact: E. Arnone (enrico.arnone at unito.it) Last update: 15 March 2021 ------------------------------------------------------- LIST of available DATA and brief description 1. TREND results FILES: ./Pepin20_gridded_T_native.txt ./Pepin20_gridded_PR_native.txt WHAT: Results of the temperature (T) and precipitation (PR) trend analysis for different datasets, periods and bands/regions as reported in the tables and figures of the manuscript. The files report: "Dataset region period target trend pvalue level-of-significance (number) level-of-significance (symbols: *=0.05, **=0.01) Target can be k1, lowland or k1-lowland difference (k1-ll-diff) Example: "ERA5 Tibet 1900-2018 k1 3.20 0.000 0.01 **" 2. Montecarlo test on parameter sensitivity FILE: ./montecarlo_ERA5.dat WHAT: Results of the parameter sensitivy analysis performed on ERA5 temperatures as indication of uncertainty on the trends. The file reports the mean and standard deviation of the ensemble of 19 sets of trends obtained over 1980-2018 with various configurations of the parameters of the analysis (top two blocks) and the trends of each configuration (following 19 blocks). The file reports: - Top two blocks (MEAN and ST.DEV of ensemble): "Region k1-trend ll-trend diff-trend k1-pvalue ll-pvalue diff-pvalue number-of-significant-cases-in-ensemble Example: "Rockies 3.69 2.36 1.32 0.00 0.03 0.05 10" - Following 19 blocks (OUTPUT/name-of-ensemble-member): "Region k1-trend ll-trend diff-trend k1-pvalue ll-pvalue diff-pvalue significance-of-the-trend-of-the-difference (*=0.05, **=0.01) Example: " Rockies 3.66 2.45 1.21 0.00 0.02 0.04 *" 3. CMIP5 ensemble means FILES: ./raw-results/tas_Amon_ENSMEAN_historical_r1i1p1_1900-2005_1deg_anomaly_base1986-2005.nc ./raw-results/tas_Amon_ENSSTD_historical_r1i1p1_1900-2005_1deg_anomaly_base1986-2005.nc ./raw-results/pr_Amon_ENSMEAN_historical_r1i1p1_1900-2005_1deg_anomaly_base1986-2005.nc ./raw-results/pr_Amon_ENSSTD_historical_r1i1p1_1900-2005_1deg_anomaly_base1986-2005.nc WHAT: Results of the ensemble mean and standard deviation for tempertaure and precipitation stored as self-explanatory NetCDF files. Ensemble data were produced using the models listed in table S1 of the supplementary material. 4. Timeseries and other intermediate files FILES: ./raw-data/Pepin2020_T_native/* ./raw-data/Pepin2020_PR_native/* WHAT: These two folders contain the timeseries obtained for each dataset, period, and target (k1, lowland or k1-lowland difference) and further intermediate files produced during the analysis. Results were obtained both on annual base and individual seasons. They are made available during revision for transparancy but will NOT be made publicly available afterwards. 5. Original datasets They can be reached through their public repositories as listed in the manuscript.
